AU Electrical Engineering students visited IHS Kuwait. During the visit, the students were acquainted with Telecommunication Systems as well as the roles and responsibilities of telecom engineers. Through this interesting visit, the students had the chance to see telecom switches, cables, routers, UPS’s as well as the firefighting system. Moreover, they conducted an exciting test to measure the Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) received by the communication tower. As supplying power to these remote communication sites is challenging, the students were introduced to different power supply methods highlighting the importance of the failover power systems.
