Under the patronage of Dr. Hamad Al Adwani, The Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education, The Australian University (AU) organized its Fall 2022 exhibition for the engineering student’s graduation projects. Held on Wednesday, 28th of December, at Boulevard Hall and attended by distinguished guests including Eng. Omar Al Kandari, Acting General Secretary of the Private Universities Council, Prof. Isam Zabalawi, AU President, Dr. Mohamed Abdul Niby, Dean of the College of Engineering, and Her Excellency Ms. Melissa Kelly, Australian Ambassador to Kuwait.
The event Platinum sponsors were Gulf Bank and Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences, while the Gold sponsor was Al Tijari Bank (CBK). Furthermore, the Australian Embassy of Kuwait was also among the event sponsors.
The exhibition included 31 projects presented by 137 students from various engineering disciplines at the university under the supervision of faculty members. After exhibiting, event judges consisting of industry experts and faculty members selected winning projects for each of the four engineering disciplines offered at AU.
Commenting on the exhibition, Eng. Omar Al Kandari, Acting General Secretary of PUC stated that the General Secretariat of the PUC always encourages private universities and colleges to organize exhibitions of student projects in various disciplines, stressing on their support to students. Eng. Al Kandari further called on the responsible parties in the country to support student projects through adopting these ideas and projects, as students are the future of the country, and they are the ones on whom the implementation of “Kuwait Vision 2035” can be relied upon.
For his part, Dr. Abdul Niby Dean of COE at AU, highlighted the importance of the exhibition for students’ future, commenting: “By participating in engineering graduation projects, our students can learn engineering practices in real life scenarios, which prepares them to enter the field of real work and contribute to continuing education. In addition, this exhibition constitutes a wonderful opportunity for students and faculty at AU to communicate with its industrial and professional partners, along with partnered academic institutions.”
