The Alumni and Career Placement Center (ACPC) of AU hosted an expansive Career Fair on Thursday October 24th, under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Nader Abdullah Al Jalal, Acting Minister of Education, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
Over 60 organizations took part in the event with the aim of connecting with the next generation of Kuwaiti professionals. The Career Fair was graced by the presence of Her Excellency Melissa Kelly, the Australian Ambassador to Kuwait, and various representatives from major sponsors, including Platinum Sponsors: Advanced Industrial Manufacturing, Kuwait Petroleum Corporation and subsidiaries, Kuwait Finance House, Gulf Bank and Kuwait International Bank; God Sponsors: Boubyan Bank and Tazur; and Silver Sponsors: Burgan Bank and the Commercial Bank of Kuwait.
Alongside the networking opportunities, the event also featured a seminar titled “Empowering Kuwait’s Future: The Role of Students in Achieving Kuwait Vision 2035,” which underscored Kuwait’s vision 2035 and emphasized the essential role of graduates to the national economy.
The seminar began with a keynote speech from Prof. Isam Zabalawi, President of AU, which set the stage for a panel discussion with distinguished speakers representing various industry sectors. The panel of speakers included Eng. Sager Al Sharhan, Board Chairman of Al Mutatawera Services Holding Company and Assistant to the President for Support Services at AU; Ms. Huda Al Baqshi, General Manager of the Kuwait Industries Union; Mr. Fahad Al Sheraian, Previous Minister of Commerce & Industry in the State of Kuwait and Previous Minister of Social Works in the State of Kuwait; and Commodore. Sheikh Mubarak Al Sabah, Director of the Coast Guard. The panels were moderated by Dr. Omar Al Hussainan, Manager of the Alumni and Career Placement Center.
Commenting on the event, Dr. Al Hussainan said: “The AU Career Fair is a valuable opportunity for students and graduates to connect with employers from diverse industries. It offers a unique platform to network, explore job opportunities and discover career paths. Participants can engage with company representatives, submit CVs and even participate in on-the-spot interviews.”
