AU Engineering Students showcasing their innovative and sustainable projects

Under the patronage of His Excellency Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education, Dr. Hamad Al Adwani, AU’s College of Engineering organized its Graduation Projects Exhibition for the spring 2022/2023 semester. The exhibition held at Boulevard witnessed crowded attendance of AU faculty, industry representatives to evaluate students’ projects, VIP guests, students’ family, and friends.

On this occasion, Dean of College of Engineering, Dr. Mohammed Abdul Niby, stated that the exhibition included 56 engineering projects from the various engineering majors in the university such as (Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical and Petroleum Engineering) which were put together by 250 students.

Dr. Abdul Niby further added that featured projects in the exhibition includes new and innovative practical and scientific ideas viable for real world applications, emphasizing that the Australian University’s strategy focuses on real world application of student’s academic outcomes learned throughout their studies theoretically to prepare them for the competitive job market. Dr. Abdul Niby added that the university has state of the art engineering and computer laboratories which provide students with all the necessary engineering software to complete their projects. Also, he highlighted the positive feedback received from the guest attendees who commended students’ efforts, pointing out the innovativeness and real-world applicability of the students’ projects. Closing his statement, Dr. Abdul Niby noted that at the conclusion of the exhibition students’ projects were reviewed by a panel of judges composed of industry leaders in Kuwait who chose the best projects for each engineering specialization, and that winning students were awarded to inspire innovation and encourage competition among students.

From his end, Dr. Jean El Achkar, Assistant Professor at the Petroleum Engineering Department at AU, explained that the Australian University is always keen to host exhibitions for graduating students’ engineering projects every semester, and he also praised the innovative projects put together by students at the exhibition in varying disciplines of engineering which included solutions to various societal needs including environmental protection, sustainable development, smart cities and artificial intelligence.  Dr. El Achkar further commented, thanking the Kuwait Foundation for Advancement of Sciences, the National Bank of Kuwait, and Markaz for their support as sponsors of the event.
